Katariina is a Master's student in biomedicine at the University of Tartu with a passion for biotechnology, personal medicine and science communication. She currently holds multiple positions including a marketing specialist at an Estonian biotechnology company, a cell culture specialist at the University of Tartu, and a volunteer at the Bioscience Students’ Association based in Tartu. Katariina defended her Bachelor's thesis on protein expression optimization and is currently involved in generating induced pluripotent stem cells from blood cells for personal medicine. She has also been active in various educational initiatives, led two working groups of students’ associations and given many scientific lectures in various high schools as well as assisting in teaching a practical biotechnology course for Bachelor’s students at the University of Tartu.
