Sergio Loarte Castro

Sergio is a PhD candidate in Quantum Computer Science at QuTech, where he investigates the role of satellites in shaping the future Quantum Internet. His research bridges the worlds of fundamental quantum information science and practical space engineering. Before pursuing his PhD, Sergio spent six years at Airbus as a space engineer, contributing to a variety of NASA and ESA projects, with a particular focus on scientific interplanetary missions. He is driven about bringing these two worlds together, leveraging his experience in space missions to advance the next generation of quantum communication technologies.
